Jim and Mandy Bowerman combined their love of graphic design, art, and photography into a great idea for clothing during the COVID-19 pandemic and beyond.

What’s your side hustle?
Ecommerce apparel business at stillhugging.com.
How did you get into this particular side hustle?
My husband is a graphic and web designer, I am a photographer and we just wanted to put some art out there.
How long have you been doing this side hustle?
We’ve only been doing this a few months.
What were the startup costs?
The initial investment was about $500. We are still working on getting off the ground.
Do your kids help you with this side hustle?
No, not really.
What are the pros of this side hustle?
- Once it is all set, then it runs pretty smoothly.
What are the cons of this side hustle?
- The market is oversaturated.
- It’s really hard to get a following/get noticed.
How do you juggle homeschooling and this side hustle?
We do most of our work after school or at night after the kids are in bed.
How long have you been homeschooling? What homeschool curriculum do you use? Kids’ ages/grades?
5 years! We mostly use Sonlight, with a mix of a few other odds and ends. Jameson is almost 9 and in the 4th grade. Lillie is 5 in Kindergarten.
